Scrum Master

*Selected candidate must work onsite in Norfolk, VA location.  No remote work authorized.*

Overview

Responsible for managing the scrum process with the coordination of scrum team in Agile methodology, including removing impediments for the team.

Arrange daily stand-up meetings
Facilitate meetings & decision-making processes
Help product owner manage the backlog and identify scope for next sprint
Organize and facilitate sprint planning meetings
Maintain project velocity

Technical Skills:

  • Understanding of infrastructure, environment management, and performance testing in a SAFe environment
  • Knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.
  • Good skills to coach team how to follow agile scrum.
  • Understand the basic fundamentals of iterative and incremental development.
  • Strong knowledge of Scrum theory, rules and practices.
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches, like: Kanban, Crystal, FDD, XP, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of software development processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile techniques like: User Stories, Continuous Integration, ATDD, TDD, 
Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
  • Ability to take ownership to deliver the product on time.
  • Knowledge about tasks, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, user stories etc.
  • Familiar with common development practices, Service oriented environments, and Agile practices.
  • Jira/Confluence experience.

Additional responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the technical solution to ensure that technical outcomes are aligned with client expectations.
  • Coach or mentor colleagues, sharing knowledge and experience to benefit our clients. 
Required education and experience
  • Three to eight years’ experience in a software development environment. This should include:
    • JIRA
    • Confluence
    • Agile Scrum development

Preferred education and experience:

  • Healthcare technology & industry experience preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years prior experience as product owner or scrum master
  • Experience prioritizing and grooming the development backlog, participating in release and sprint planning, and driving user stories to successful completion
  • Strong verbal communication skills, both with colleagues and customers, with diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Effective in conveying ideas and messages, both formally and informally, clearly, concisely and accurately
