User Experience (UX) Designer

The UX designer creates satisfying or compelling experiences for users of a product, often drawing on results from user research and workflow analysis. The UX designer needs to possess strong creative, technical and problem-solving skills. The UX design role may combine elements of psychology, storytelling, and computer science as well. Areas of focus may include content, controls, visual design and development, information architecture, user research, branding and customer/technical support.

Responsibilities include:

  • Consulting with internal stakeholders and clients to understand their business, functional and technical goals
  • Explaining usability and analytics research results to stakeholders and clients as it relates to UX guidance and design
  • Conducting usability testing
  • Creating wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps and screen flows
  • Creating product prototypes via interactive wireframes or other simulation tools
  • Developing personas and usage scenarios
  • Analyzing user feedback and activity, and iterating to enhance the user experience
  • Conducting competitor and customer analysis as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned may include assisting with the corporate web site and other client and prospect facing materials such as proposals, case studies, and marketing vehicles.

Required qualifications

  • Solid understanding of graphic design and web technologies.
  • Proficiency with wireframing tools such as Axure RP, Sketch and Balsamiq.
  • Experience with design programs and tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks and InVision.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and
  • A willingness to keep their skills and industry knowledge current.
  • Able to effectively work with technical analysts, developers, and graphic designers.
  • Self-directed but also collaborative.
  • Superb communication, time-management and process-management skills.
  • Keen problem-solving and organizational abilities are necessary among other soft skills.
  • Creativity, passion, and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in visual design, communications, computer science or psychology.
  • 3-5 years of previous design experience preferred.
